Call me eschlon… yes I know, it’s missing an ‘e’, but the extra ’s’ makes up for it. It also puts the ‘c’ in a nice position for a double-letter or something, so it’s extra good.
Now that we’ve gotten the spelling conundrum out of the way, allow me to introduce myself. I’m a student, currently working toward a PhD in Linguistics. At some point in pre-history I studied Literature, I hung out with artists and I wrote things, and then Grad School got in the way. I still do write, mind you, but for the past few years my style has shifted to the kind of writing that includes a lot of statistics and a method section. It’s rewarding, but not exactly light reading, and (presumably) not fiction.
I dedicate this blog to changing all that. It’s been a pretty long time since I’ve really seriously sat down and put pen to paper, but at this point the stress of Dissertation work, a healthy motivation to procrastinate and the ever growing moldy congealed soup of ideas leaking out of my head have compelled me to get back on the proverbial horse and write something down.
Science is great, but sometimes you just need to publish something that’s completely made up.
